Robert F. Drinan's campaign for the United States House of Representatives. Reverend Drinan's successful congressional bid was a landmark victory in U.S. politics, as he was the first Roman Catholic priest to be elected as a voting member of Congress and he was elected on an anti-war platform during the U.S. conflict in Vietnam. In 1972, Marttila joined Joe Biden's campaign for the United States Senate in Delaware against Republican J. Caleb Boggs.
